The Pros and Cons of Email Marketing

Email marketing has withstood the test of time, and there’s no question that email campaigns are an effective tool in growing business. However, that is not to say that email marketing does not have it’s shortcomings. We’re breaking down its pros and cons below:

1. Conversion Rate

One of the biggest advantages of email marketing is its conversion rate. Email initiates more conversions than any other channel.

2. Cost

Running an email marketing campaign is effective and extremely budget-friendly. Even implementing tools like MailChimp to improve the effectiveness wouldn’t require you to increase your spending by very much.

3. ROI

According to Campaign Monitor, email marketing boasts a 3800% ROI, with $38 for each dollar spent.

1. Spam

All the spam emails that customers receive on a daily basis can make them reluctant to opt-in to your email marketing list.

2. Time

A highly successful email marketing campaign depends on its email list, and, unfortunately, it takes time to build this kind of email list. That, of course, is not to say it isn’t worth it. It just means you’ll have to be willing to put in the time in order to see results.

3. Aesthetics

Compared to social media marketing, it’s hard to make emails stand out, especially if your email never gets opened. You have to rely on a catchy subject line to capture your reader’s attention.
